Past Event - Launch Party, Guilford CT

  • Breakwater Books 81 Whitfield Street Guilford, CT, 06437 United States (map)

We are so excited for this event! It is both a book launch and a rare opportunity to get a glimpse into the creative minds of siblings David and Julie Fitzpatrick. Join us as the two of them sit down to discuss writing, the creative process, and David's new novel, Wolf-Boy.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Wolf-Boy is a coming of age story set in Provincetown, Truro, and Dennis Cape Cod during the summer of 1979. 16-year-old Danny Halligan is seeking to define his sexual identity, struggling to navigate his feelings toward his 18-year-old friend Liam Preston. Their lives spiral out of control when they meet 21-year-old Gracie Rose, a charismatic photographer and Yale dropout with a vision of a flesh festival on film. She masks her subjects to maintain their anonymity. Liam becomes Lone Ranger while Danny's fur-covered mask transforms him into Wolf-Boy. Danny is caught in a torrent of drugs, sex, and photography and is left mentally and physically ravaged. As Danny recovers in a mental health facility, Gracie gains fame for the publication of her ground-breaking photographs, known as Transfiguration Photos.

ABOUT THE OTHER AUTHOR: Julie Fitzpatrick is a writer/actor/theater teacher who has acted Off-Broadway, regionally, and in TV/short film. She is a member of The Playwrights Circle, Guilford Poets Guild & Ensemble Studio Theatre in NYC. Her poetry has been published by Chariot Press, Wingless Dreamer, Poets' Choice, and Allegory Ridge. She is the author of the one woman show “77 U-Turn” & the book “Church on the Screen: A Sunday Series of Pandemic Poetry,” both of which are available at Breakwater Books. More information on Julie’s work can be found at www.juliefitzpatrick.com. Special thanks to her loves: Pete, Fitz and Baby Gracen.
